Right-click on the VNC icon in the system tray on the remote computer,
select "options" and DESELECT / UNCHECK the box that says "prompt local user
to accept connections." If you're talking about a non-Windows O/S, I'm not
sure. There's an option in Xvnc to prompt the server for authorization, but
that shouldn't be on by default.

thank you! one check mark on the other machine was enough to get VNC working correctly . . . or at least the way I needed it to work. I am running Ubuntu on both machines and the control you mentioned is under System/Preferences/Remote Desktop and then uncheck in the security section "ask you for conformation" Again, thank you for your help.
