I tried building from a vnc-4.1.2-5.fc6.src.rpm that I found on rpmfind.net, but there were too many dependencies. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get them all. I then tried an earlier 4.x "vnc-4.0-5.src.rpm". All went well until nearing the end of rpmbuild when an unspecified dependency glib2.0 >= 2.2.0 arose. It looked like too much of an overhaul upgrading the whole gcc dependency tree. That's when I decided to try vnc 3.3.3 that came with it.
Since you say it will build cleanly on RHL 7.3, I'll upgrade to all the latest in Aurora updates, then try again. Can you point me to a good source for a 4.1.2 source RPM or tar-ball with a good spec file?
