Let me describe the environment of the problem again.
I have a small peer-to-peer network which works fine.
I need to access resources on at least one of my desktops when I am on the
road so I'm taking it gradually.
I have a desktop with free VNC server and viewer and a laptop with only the
viewer, both VNC4.
Both machines run Windows XP SP2 with all the updates and patches.
First, I want to access my desktop from my laptop when they are both inside
the network.
After that, I'll try when the laptop is outside.
Windows Remote Desktop works fine.
There are no other firewalls installed except Windows.
I have already enabled VNC server in the Exceptions tab of the firewall in the
desktop.
Now I get immediately, and repetitively, the following error message which I
quote verbatim:
"The connection connection closed unexpectedly.
Do you wish to attempt to reconnect to 192.168.1.12?"
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
