Rick,

     I am not sure why you received the above error message.  However,
there is no need to even have a firewall protecting your Hamachi
connection.  The IP addresses that Hamachi creates are non-routable.  No
one can use the IP address your Hamachi client generates unless they are
using Hamachi and know your network name and key.  Hamachi creates an
outgoing connection on both sides of the VPN tunnel that it creates.
Thus, you do not need to even do any port-forwarding in your router.
Each side of the tunnel will behave as if the computers were on the same
LAN.  I have done exactly what you are trying to do several times
without any problems.  This method of connecting to the VNC server is
very secure.

     Of course, VNC will work fine without Hamachi.  However, this
requires some sort of port forwarding on your router and will create a
much less secure connection.
