Perhaps that should be made clearer in the documentation for RealVNC. I could 
be wrong, but I suspect that I am not the only one having problems because we 
thought ANYTHING copied to the clipboard could be transferred.

Do you know if the RealVNC folks are planning on adding any file transfer 
capabilities to RealVNC? They are present in TightVNC and UltraVNC. I believe 
that while it certainly is not a deal-breaker, it would definitely be a 
welcomed enhancement by many.

You can't.  The VNC clipboard transfer is text only.
