When running a VNC session over a long period - say, one or two weeks -,
strange aging effects sometimes
occur. For example, the output of text (such as echoing the characters
in a xterm or kterm window,
or text entered in the entry field of a web browser) or the effect of
clicking on a pull-down menu,
is only seen after the mouse has moved. For instance, I type something
at a shell prompt, but nothing
is echoed. When I move the mouse a bit, suddenly the characters I've
typed, appear. Or I click on one of
the menus of my browser, but nothing happens; and when I move the mouse,
the menu suddenly pops open.

Shutting down and re-connection to the session with the VNC client does
not help. Restarting KDE (startkde)
doesn't help eihter. But terminating the VNC session and restarting it,
helps.

Did other people observe the same behaviour?

I'm connecting a Windows XP machine via VNC to a KDE session running
under Linux.
