Markus, I'm afraid you are mistaken. VNC Server for Windows makes the desktop of the server computer accessible remotely, at whatever size that may be. Changing the size of the server's desktop via Windows' Display Properties dialog therefore changes the size of the desktop displayed by VNC Viewer.
I'm afraid I don't understand your point about recompling VNC server to modify the files server via HTTP, since these have no effect whatsoever on the size of your desktop (see above).
