Oh, I see.
I guess the surest way to trouble shoot is the following:
have you tried VNCing to your desktops from another person's computer on the
internet? (trying to completely eliminate the possibility of it being an
issue with the desktops/router/their firewalls)

Can you connect to some one else's desktop via vnc when on the WiFi?
