Mike,

1. If it's possible to have the client initiate the connection, look into
VNC viewer's -listen mode with the server making the outbound connection,
not you "dialling in". Also eliminates the problem of client's having
static IP's, since it doesn't matter so long as yours resolves.

2. Because the client is initiating the connection, as long as your own
router is configured properly, NO worries about routers at all. Routers
worry about incoming connections, not outgoing. If your clients have
firewalling software installed, they're going to have to permit the outgoing
connection, nothing you can do about that.

3. Hrm..screen readers, ya say...I thought you couldn't use something like
VNC with a screen reader since there's no real text on the screen, just a
graphic representation of the server computer. I'm not sure about this one
at all.

Good luck,

Arthur

Subject: Please help! Getting through a firewall, router with Real VNC and
other issues

Dear VNC guru's,
I hate people begging in emails but I am really in a quandary! I have
been going blind over the last 6 years and now I am almost totally blind. I
am in the computer repair business and need to be able to do three things:

1. Connect to my customers computers remotely and make repairs on them.

Since I can no longer drive a car I need to be able to connect to computers
to remove viruses, fix printer issues, generally maintain the computers for
a fee. It's how I make a living. I need information on which version of Real
VNC to purchase. ( they have a great product and I don't mind paying them
for what they provide!

2. Be able to connect to networks (people using firewalls and routers)

I still have not seen a bullet proof way of doing this. This is the
biggest obstacle I come into. I can connect to virtually any PC using real
vnc IF and I do mean if they are not using a router and or firewall.. I
would be willing to pay someone to help walk me through the process of
getting in to machines so I don't have to go on disability!

3. Use a program (like Real VNC) with a screen reader (jaws 6.1)

I can use real vnc with my screen reader and it works awesome however, I
have to pay an extra 200.00 per year to buy the license to use the remote
feature in Jaws.

If anyone out there has any or all of my answers please I would really
appreciate an email. If you are not totally sure how to do it please don't
waste your time or mine. I am not trying to be an ungrateful jerk I just
need to get answers and get them fast.

Respectfully,
Mike
