I hate to ask this as I realize this is an overasked question - but I have
searched the mailing list archives and consulted other sites, trying various
things to get a VNC connection working between a linux host and a Windows
2000 client, but to no avail.
Host OS: Redhat Enterprise WS 3 on 192.168.10.28
Host VNC: 4.01 beta xVNC
Client OS: Windows 2000 Pro SP4
Client VNC: RealVNC 4.0 x86 win32 and/or UltraVNC viewer
- VNC server is running with a PID as display 1.
- I have forwarded ports 5900 - 5904, as well as 5800 - 5804 via our router
to the host IP.
- I have bugzilla running on the host, as well as port 80 and 22 forwarded,
and I connect successfully to the host.
- No, I can't telnet, but I don't have it open in the router either.
- When attempting to connect via RealVNC, I get:
unable to connect to host: A socket operation was attempted to an
unreachable host.
- iptables -n -L shows an empty firewall, all IP addresses set at 0.
Am I missing something? I would love any suggestions at this point. Linux
isn't my strong suit here, though I did get a Mac host/Windows client
working successfully.
Thanks in advance,
Eve
