Gary Hong and I have been having an 'off list' discussion about mixing VNC
and Remote Desktop. Gary came up with a great suggestion which works.

If you start Remote Desktop, VNC will not work again until you reboot the
VNC Server (problem). If you enter CTRL+ALT+DEL it is intercepted locally
and the client acts on it. If you enter CTRL+ALT+END the client sends
CTRL+ALT+DEL to the server. That causes Windows on the remote end to
display the Windows Security Dialog and you can choose 'Shutdown', then
'Restart'. That reboots the server and you can now get in with VNC.

Kudos to Gary!

Alan.
