Hi - Been combing the archives and found lots of people with the same problem, but no one with a usable answer to this thing of getting a connection using the browser and java server. Hoping someone can help, here's my config and situation:
Desktop and Laptop on local LAN behind USRobotics NAT router. LAN addresses are 192.168.123.100 and 200 respectively. Server running on laptop. Ports set to 5910 and 5810. Ports opened in router and directed to Laptop. NO fast user switching. NO remote desktop. NO Windows Firewall or other software firewall enabled. XP Home on Desktop. XP Pro on Laptop (no SP2 on either) Results: 1) I can VNC from the Desktop to the Laptop using the VNC Viewer. (yay!) 2) I can VNC from the Desktop to the Laptop using the browser / Java applet across the LAN (i.e. using the 192.168.123.110 LAN address). (yay!) 3) I can not VNC from the desktop to the laptop over the internet, using the routers IP address. (4.16.114.XXX) ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Here is how that goes: Pointing the browser to "Router-IP:5810", I get the Java applet and the Browser page with the VNC logo. Then a connection dialog box, with "Router-IP:10" pre-filled in. At this point, I have not been sure if I was supposed to use that prompted data or replace it with the LAN address of the Laptop. So, I tried it both ways. Each time I get an error message. If I use "Router-IP: 10" address, I get a Connect failed. If I use "LAN-Address:10" I get a connection refused security type message. Both are "java" error messages. Can anyone help me from this point, so I can use the browser across the web? Thanks in advance Doug Long _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
