Nope... if you want it to start at boot, you really need to have it as part of your initd, TTBOMK. I don't do it that way, so all I have to go by is the FAQ. I personally start the server manually whenever I want to connect to it from remote. John

That's a FAQ, I believe...Take a look at the FAQ on >http://www.gotomyvnc.com [<Yigal>] I know it's a FAQ but I didn't find the answer in www.realvnc.com which is the software I installed in the XP side... That's web site (gotomyvnc) is new to me. Thanks. I'll save you some searching. The FAQ you want is >here: http://faq.gotomyvnc.com/fom-serve/cache/57.html [<Yigal>] I followed the instructions in http://faq.gotomyvnc.com/fom-serve/cache/67.html but it didnt help. When I run vncserver things start to run ok. Don't I have just to run vncserver in a .cshrc file or something like that? >-----Original Message----- >From: YigalB [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2004 9:18 AM >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: RE: Starting the server in Fedora > > >Thanks John! > >I found the file with a statement: uncomment the following two lines for >normal desktop: >Unset SESSION_MANAGER >Exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc > >Now it works, but only after I executed the vncserver command from a >terminal window. >How can I make it load up automatically at startup? > >Yigal > > > > >>-----Original Message----- >>From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On >>Behalf Of John Aldrich > >>Make sure you have a .vnc/xstartup something like this: >> >>#!/bin/sh >> >># Red Hat Linux VNC session startup script >>exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc >> >>The above is taken from my RedHat 9 box, but it ought to be similar. >I'm >>guessing you're talking about not having a window manager on the linux >box >>from your description. >> John >> >>-----Original Message----- >>From: YigalB [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >>Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2004 7:43 AM >>To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >>Subject: Starting the server in Fedora >> >> >>Hi >> >> >> >>I try to control a Linux Fedora core 2 from winXP.
