Glad I could help, I would have given the exact path had I been at a windows xp
workstation at the time I wrote that. BTW the Security Center is only in the control
panel if you upgraded to XP SP2.

Cheers!

Thanks for the clue which may resolve a problem I had yesterday.

I would just make your route to the solution slightly clearer:

> Network Neighbourhood
> Right Click - Properties
> Right Click the LAN or Wireless or Dial Up connection - Properties
> Advanced > Windows Firewall Settings > Exceptions > Add Port

You may find RealVNC is already listed.

You can also get to these settings via Control Panel > Security Centre >
Windows Firewall

Best regards, Andrew

The firewall built in to windows xp is probably blocking the port. Right
click on network nieghborhood and then click on properties. Then right click
on local area connection then click properties. Then click the advanced tab
and in there you enter the firewall properties and add the port to the
allowed list. It is a tcp port. The port number can also be changed, you can
make the change in the registry.

I did not see any option to send request to other than port 5900 from XP
system ( which is default).

Some how I was not able to run vncserver on port 5900.

Thx.
Sandeep.
