I had responded to your previous message before I read this one, and it
seems like the answer to my question of whether you wanted to use the
Internet is answered here.

As I mentioned, I use VPN to access systems by name on my LAN.  It may be
worth the effort of setting up the router to do this (I'm not sure if the
router you are using even has the capability to set up the required port
and protocol forwarding.)

The other way is to assign static IP addresses to all the TARGET (server)
machines (and don't assign local IP addresses - ones beginning with 166 or
192 - but that is not a trivial task because you are looking for address
that are unique on the Internet; you get them from an Internet Naming
Authority).
