It's great that beta 5 is finally out -- congratulations.

There are a number of changes I've posted patches for before which
don't seem to have been incorporated:

 o  use /usr/bin/mcookie for generating X cookies in vncserver

 o  use -DPIC -fPIC (necessary on several platforms)

 o  handle EINTR during the connect() syscall

 o  several min/max fixes for compilation with GCC 3.4
