I don't see why.  :0 is a valid display number.

I don't see the OP ask anything about a router.

Anyway, to the OP, WinXP does have a built in firewall that might be
causing issues.  There is some useful troubleshooting info at:
http://faq.gotomyvnc.com/fom-serve/cache/4.html

Personally my first step would be to see if I can telnet into the remote
machine:

telnet 129.252.1.72 5900 (or 5902 if you still have it at display 2).
