If you are dialing directly into the machine use it's IP.

Dial up the connection, run VNCviewer, put in the IP and display number and
you are set.

If that is too much trouble, put an ECRadio entry in your Hosts file on the
client machine.  No need for a DNS server/overhead when dialing directly
into a machine.
