Well, there's Terminal Services which actually works extremely well. You do have to have either W2K Server or XP Pro for the server though. It uses Windows encryption.
It has the added advantage that it can "see" the local drives and printer while in the remote session. This lets you drag and drop files between PC's and print locally from the remote program. The big disadvantage is that it is not cross platform like VNC.
