ipconfig /flushdnsA few months ago I installed WINVNC server version 3.3.4 on about 30 Win2Kprofessional boxes. Recently 5 of the boxes' leases expired so I removed them from the network and installed a new box with the same computer name to the network. Now I cannot get WinVNC to work properly on these new boxes. I installed the software the same exact way, but whenever I try the viewer is says "failed to connect to server". I have it installed as registered as a service, but I am clueless as to why it no longer wants to work on these new computers. It still works fine on the other computers. Anyone have any suggestions?
nbtstat -RR
If neither of those do the trick then check your PC's HOSTS file. Also check the resolution of names to IP addresses for the remote machines in question. See if you can connect to the remote machines using their IP addresses.
