If the WinXP firewall is the issue changing to VNC won't do you any good.
VNC is a good program, especially for the price (free!).  If you are using
it over a low bandwidth connection you might want to check out TightVNC
(www.tightvnc.com).

If you are still having trouble after fixing the WinXP firewall (if that is
the problem) come back with some more specific questions and we should be
able to give you a hand.
