Create dedicated zpool for wine stuff and link that to ~/.wine. Install winetricks and use that for tuning. Install required / missing components. Use gl and vulkan render. Switch system settings to use all built-in modules. Make snapshots, or just wipe all when not working, fear not, just don't link ~/.wine/drive_c or ~/.wine/drive_d until all works fine and you know how it works. It's not really straightforward but I made it somehow there so you can :-) I even made RMT (windoze only Raster Music Tracker for 8-bit Atari) working.
