macOS supports CIFS (SMB) and NFS mounts natively, so that would probably
be the easiest. There's also a 9P client for macOS (
https://github.com/benavento/mac9p ) and a 9P server for *IX (
https://github.com/chaos/diod ) that you can use, instead of dealing with
USB-over-IP.
