I agree with Eileen, Camfind is free and my first choice for identifying food items since you don't have to actually find the barcode and it does an excellent job on a lot of stuff. Talking Goggles can be good and if Camfind doesn't work for me I usually try Tap Tap See. It's by the same developer as Camfind, but still does a better job at times. You will, however, have to spend a few bucks to buy some picture credits.
