I know I have to be careful with orientation and holding the phone still
enough not to change it; as the dot layout changes automatically otherwise.
I am used to mBraille's Away mode, and builtin braille has this same mode
in the same order.
I try and skip past the calibration bit and wish I could switch it off; most
apps offer that when you're happy with how it's working.

I do Ok with the contractions and swap between that and basic quite readily
without issue so far. This is a 4S I'm playing with. It tends not to quite
know hwat to do with "to", which is a pity.

It is also peculiar when re-starting something mid-word, as it will
interpret from whatever you have last started typing.

e.g: I started "Before" and got something wrong, backspaced to just leave
B, typed E, and got EVER!
So, if in contracted, delete the whole word and start it again to save
confusing it.

Hi,

I have found that if you use uncontracted Braille, it works better. You do
have to write that way, but characters are noticed better that way.
