I used to sell and beta test for a few different Assistive Technology
notetakers and screen readers. The development cycle was considerably longer.
We usually had a six month to one year development cycle. If we did not release
any updates, people became as upset as you all are right now because the
companies were not doing anything to improve the products (according to the
often and common complaints). Then, when we did finally release updates, people
found bugs that we missed, or bugs that we caught using one way and fixed, but
occorred because the person used an approach that never occurred to any of us.

So, what is the difference? Well, Apple fixes the bugs, usually in one to three
months. The AT companies often took six months to a year to fix the bugs.

Next, most people want the greatest and latest when they purchase new products.
They are much less willing to purchase products which are a few years old.
