Good thought mary, but apparently it effectsw all voices. I copied [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> when I sent the message, so maybe they will pass this one along to someone to consider fixing. This certainly never happened in iOS 7.

But out of curiosity, have you tried selecting a different high-quality voice if you have one, and seeing if this is an airplay thing or and Alex thing perhaps? I have the iPhone 5S with iOS 8 and Alex as the default voice. I had music playing over my stereo via airplay. I decided to plug in my ear buds to check Email without disturbing my wife. Of course, the sound immediately went to the ear buds and I had to reselect the airport express. At that point, three times now doing those same steps, the next time I touch the screen the voice sounds like a chipmunk on an awful lot of speed, or Alex after he inhaled a lot of helium combined with meth. It is completely unintelligible. I can’t stop it until I unplug the ear buds again. At that point, Alex is back to his old self. Any other airplay users out there to see if this can be duplicated?
