AccessNote is made by a not for profit organization and they would have a lot more flexibility with respect to making a $20 app free. As they said in their post, they received some funding which allowed them to do so. Maybe if KNFB received a Million or two of funding they could do this, but I believe they are a business who is in the business of making money. They have salaries to pay, facilities to maintain and so on. This is no different from any other product, some can and will buy it, others could afford it but won't buy it for whatever reason and yet others simply may not be able to afford it. Just because this is an app geared towards a group of consumers where many may be on a lower or fixed income that does not mean the company is obligated to price it where they won't make any money and where maybe the app is still too expensive for some.
