Hi David,
First of all, it sounds as if they started the process of downloading the 7.1.2 update and that you walked out before this was complete. Maybe I misunderstood you, but if this is the case then I can only say that I would never interrupt an iOS update hoping it would finish later without problems, that's just asking for problems. As for backups, iCloud is great, but I can only say that an encrypted backup is still your best and most complete option. It's also much faster than restoring from an iCloud backup and while I do backup to iCloud, I also do regular encrypted backups to iTunes. Previously I promised an update on my ongoing issues with apple care support. First I want to point out that every phone conversation I have is with the special disabilities cue at the 877-204-3930. I had my in store appointment/diagnostic with my Iphone 4s on Wednesday 7/2/14. Original issue was folks said they could not hear me when I used the phone on speaker. The diagnostic found no issue with the speaker, but did find fault with the battery, so the device was replaced at no cost under my apple care extended coverage. On my original phone, I had downloaded ios 7.12 the day before I went to the store. When I left the store Wednesday, the download was only partially complete. Because I have wifi at home, and cloud backup for the phone, they said it would fully restore within 24 hours. Meanwhile, I had to reload passwords/log ins to a couple dozen apps. painful. Now on Saturday 7/5, I get prompts that the restore process is not complete, that 7.12 update is still not downloaded. I talked to a different apple care rep who said he will have to walk me through another new reset process to complete the backup. I'm not looking forward to this. I hope he knows more about what he is talking about than the first rep who wanted me to do a reset. Really don't want to have to do all those app logins again. -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. All new members to the this list are moderated by default.
