Subject: Returning i touch to factory settings

Using a used phone, what should be done
Dear all. A friend of mine bought a used i touch. The original user did not
bring the device back to factory settings. He has not been able to sign in
with his own apple id. He has itunes eleven installed. But he is unable to
find the option to change the settings. Every time he tries to use appstore
the original user's apple id appears. Kindly help be guide this guy.
