Hi martin, Podcasts in iTunes used to be treated just as any other media which means you could sync all podcasts or selected podcasts and they used to show up in the Music app under "More". However, since Apple has their own Podcast app you now have to install it and I think then you can still sync Podcasts.
However, if you enjoy Podcasts I would highly recommend you invest the $2 or $3 (can't remember exactly how much it costs) into an app called Downcast. This is considered to be one of the best Podcast apps and it is fully accessible. It is much more feature rich than Apple's own Podcast app. I never even subscribe to Podcasts in iTunes any more since I prefer to listen to them on my iPhone with Downcast. You can subscribe to the Podcasts directly wit the app and decide how you want to handle the Podcasts, e.g. download the latest, the 2 newest etc. You can also not download the Podcast at all and just stream it.
