Hi, The main difference from VoiceOver is that this app provides a higher quality voice for reading things like Bookshare books, books from Project Gutenberg, a lot of different file types that you can access through a dropbox account and more. Plus, you can buy additional voices that might fit you better. If you do not have a Bookshare account, or want to read with a different voice, than I would not suggest buying the app. It will not read protected ePub books like the ones in iBooks or the Nook app. But, it does make reading books from Bookshare far more enjoyable for me. I just read a book using the voice called Julie, which I purchased. It was almost as good as having a human read book. In fact, the Julie voice had some similar qualities to the person who recorded the commercial audio book.
Also, the only other app you can read Bookshare books with is one from them called Read2Go, and costs $19.99 where this one costs $9.99 and even if you buy two or three extra voices, it is still cheaper and personally, I think makes for a better reading experience.
