Hi Morné,

I assume you created an Apple Id which would be an email address and a
password? I also assume you either have a credit card associated with said
Apple Id or that you purchased maybe a gift card so you have a balance which
allows you to get paid apps.

If so, you can find an app you want, then look for a button that says “Free”
or “$0.99” or whatever the price is in your currency. Since I don’t have an
iPad I am not exactly sure where that button is on the iPad. Anyhow, you
will have to double tap on that button, it will turn into an “Install”
button and after you double tap on it you will be asked to enter your Apple
Id email and Password. Typically your Apple Id will already be there or if
not it may ask you the first time and then it will be there and you only
have to enter your password.

I know it’s tempting to choose a relatively easy password especially for
somebody who is new and unfamiliar with the virtual keyboard, but do
yourself a favour and don’t use just a word with maybe a number somewhere.
There are too many accounts which get hacked and it’s better to choose a
strong password that’s a bit more time consuming to enter than to have your
account highjacked and deal with that. A Strong password should be random,
don’t use a word from the dictionary or even one spelled backwards, use
upper and lower case as well as at least 1 or 2 numbers and a symbol like an
exclamation mark or Dollar symbol etc. I usually think of a silly sentence
and then use the first letters of each word, you could for example do
something like this:

I like my iPad 3 and information from the Viphone list!

These are 10 words, “I” and “Viphone” are capitalized, there is a number,
the 3 from iPad 3, and an exclamation mark at the end. This could turn into
the following password:

Ilmi3aiftVl!

This is just an example, but I find it easy to remember sentences like this
hence I can remember the passwords and they are among the most secure
passwords you can come up with.

Regards,

Sieghard

Subject: Downloading apps from the app store

Hello list,

Okay, I got to know my iPad 3. My next step is that I want to learn how to
download an app. I know how to get to the appstore but I’m’ not sure what to
do next. Is there a potcast or something else where I can find information
on how to do it?

Kind regards

Morné
