I just snipped off the left ear cord of my Apple earpods and it works just great. I, too, only want one ear tied to the phone so I can be aware of what is going on around me. I bought a Blue ant single ear blue tooth but don't like it as much as the wired one since you can't answer a Siri question or turn music or books on and off with it. So I use the wired one. Usually have phone in my pocket and run the wire under my shirt so it doesn't catch on things and is not so obvious. But I am very pleased with the single ear piece of the ear pods.

Hello,

I don't know if this would be something you'd want to do but, you could buy a regular pair of stereo headphones and snip off one of the wires.

This may sound odd but I'm looking for a recommendation for a wired single-ear earphone for use with my iPhone 5. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money (less than $50) but I would appreciate decent quality not unlike what I'm getting with the earpods that came with the iPhone 5. I'm interested in a single ear model since I would like to have my other ear available to stay attuned to what's going on around me. I'm not really interested in bluetooth due to its cost and battery requirements.

I tried the Apple store but didn't come across anything. It would be really nice to get something that has a mic and remote and volume up and down buttons like the earpods but I don't think such a thing exists in a wired, single-ear model.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
