Hi, the link below is to a very short demo of the totally different way the microphone on the iPhone 5 can sound when you take away apple's processing. I don't know other apps that do this, but Fire 2 definitely does. You have the way to control the volume, compression, limiter and other audio features. There is a setting in the app that allows you to completely turn off the microphone processing done by apple.
First I use List Recorder to record the actual sound of the microphone with all of apple's audio processing turned on, which is the only way most apps can do it. Next, there is a recording made in Fire 2 with the processing turned off.
