Yes, you only need to say the punctuation mark you would like inserted,
where you would like to insert it. Inflection or tone has no baring. Here
are a few examples;
What to say when dictating;
What time does the movie start question mark
What SIRI will write;
What time does the movie start?

What to dictate;
I'm really happy for you exclamation point
What will be written;
I'm really happy for you!

As I said, it takes some practice, as it is unnatural to include punctuation
within the context of speech. It takes a little practice to include
parenthetical notations and quotation marks, but it can be done.
Kindly,
Melissa

I don't know if Siri can get it right from inflection but if you say
question mark and period in the appropriate places, Siri will definitely
place the correct punctuation and not the words.

Subject: punctuation and dictation

Hello all,
I was wondering about how to indicate punctuation when dictating with serri
or the in app keyboard app. For example, when phrasing a question, is it a
matter of voice inflection or does one actually need to say question? If so,
how does one make sure that the word question or comma or whatever the mark
happens to be is not inserted as an actual word. thanks.
