Hi Ming,
Here is what I found regarding answering incoming calls. I just posted another message about the other person’s problem with switching to speakerphone and his calls dropping, but I wanted to answer yours separately. It does seem there is a change in how you have to answer calls in Skype. I am pretty sure that in the past when a call came in, no matter if you had your phone locked or not, you had Answer and decline buttons on the screen which were easy to find and double tap. Now it appears that Skype only alerts you to an incoming call (of course you also hear the ringing), but you have to actually open Skype before you get to the Answer and Decline calls. I sort of wonder if this is a restriction Apple placed on them because maybe they wanted to make it more difficult for people to use Skype, but that’s only conjecture. Anyhow, I found that when my phone was locked and I called my one Skype Id with which I was signed in on my iPhone from my other Skype Id on the PC, that I had a lock screen alert which allowed me to launch Skype, once I did that I had an answer button towards the right side of the screen and a decline button to the left of that just as on a normal phone call. I double tapped on the answer button and the call was picked up with no problem. When I didn’t have the phone locked, I realized that I only had alerts set to Banners in Notifications. I changed it to Alert and after that I had an alert pop up on the screen which once again gave me easy access to a button which launched/opened the Skype app after which I once more was able to double tap on the Answer button. One thing I haven’t tried yet, but I will do so tomorrow, is what happens if you have a passcode enabled. I guess I would get the alert in the lock screen to Launch Skype, but one would hope that tapping on that will first require you to enter your passcode. Of course this does also mean you have to be pretty quick to do so and still have time to double tap on answer afterwards before the call goes to voice mail or, in my case, is forwarded to my cell phone which is how I have my Skype set up. All in all I am not sure why Skype would not simple allow a user to get the Answer and Decline buttons right away and instead require you to launch the app first. I somehow have a hard time explaining this except that they were forced to do so by some new Apple policy or restriction. Maybe I’ll send Skype a message and ask and see if they will explain it. Both ways I have to hold the phone up to my ear to hear the conversation. The other problem is that it seems to drop the call after about 10 minutes of calling. Any fix for this? I am making free skype to skype calls and not paid skype to phone calls when both these problems occur and don’t think that makes a difference as the person I am talking to can talk on speaker phone. The calls are being done over y Fi as well. Thanks -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
