I think you only see Imessage replies in the group message, not text message
ones.

I do this all the time. You don't need an app or anything unless that's
what you want to do. All you do is go in to compose, go to the to field and
then I just add everyone's name from address book, or type in numbers if I
need to. You don't have to hit enter or anything in-between names, which
makes it nice. Be warned though, if you send a text out to all of them,
then they can all both reply to you directly there, and see everyone else's
reply in the group. Hope this helps.
