The question was to avoid any confusion, what is the Whats~App app like
accessibility-wise or user like compared with the web version then.
I'm asking in general rather than with regard to any screen reader.
Incidentally using NVDA in the web version it's not at all perfect but I
can manage it okay really.
In the list view of messages for examopkle UI go through the names by
hitting control tab or in reverse control, shift and tab.

I had to reauthorize Whatsapp on my windows PC
with a QR code and it indeed did change and is not as accessible
as I had been used to.
So what is this about the app, is that the way to go now to make
it usefulable again?
Also do you know if there any scripts
for NVDA?

This is off topic, but I can tell you that unless you alter
this parameter, automatic updates are the default option in
Windows. Either-way, make sure by following these steps:
1. Push windows key to open the start menu and type “store”
in the search box. Now hit enter on Microsoft Store.
2. Once the store is open, tab until you hear the screen
reader saying, “user profile,” and push down the space bar.
3. Now arrow down as many times as needed to reach the option
that reads, “store settings,” and hit enter.
4. At this point, tab a few times to reach the option to
verify automatic updates.
