For anything PDF, I find the website www.ILovePDF.com is the perfect one-stop solution. You can merge multiple PDF files into one, you can split a PDF into as many separate ones as there are pages in the original and you can convert PDF files into anything else you can think of whether Word, Excel, text file, JPG image etc. I mostly use the website for splitting PDF's as I sometimes get invoices from a supplier which are contained in a single PDF file. If, for example, I get a PDF with 9 pages and I know that page 1 is one invoice, pages 2 and 3 are a second and 4-7 is a third with pages 8 and 9 being the 4th and last invoice in that file, I simply go to the website, select to split a PDF, click the upload button and select my PDF file from the standard open dialogue. Once uploaded, I can use the "e" quick key to jump to the first edit field which by default shows page 1, then the second edit box shows by default the last page, in this case 9. In my example I would change the 9 to a 1 so that it says I am doing from page 1 to page 1. I then select the "Add range" button and a second set of from and to edit fields pops up which now shows page 2 to 9, I know I want pages 2 and 3 so I change again the 9 to a 3, then click Add Range again and I now see pages 4 o 9 are available and I change the 9 to a 7 because for my third invoice I want pages 4, 5, 6 and 7. Now I add the final range which by default will show from 8 to 9 which is correct so now all I have to do is click the "Split PDF" button. The operation is performed and without ever touching the keyboard again, after a few seconds a zip file is downloaded and it will contain 4 files which are named with the original file name followed by "Page 1", "Page 2-3", Page 4-7" and Page 8-9. I can copy these 4 files and paste them into whichever folder I want them in, then if I know each invoice number, I can rename them to say, for example, "ABC Company 123456 Inv 12-19-2025" so basically I always use this format where I put the supplier's name first followed by the invoice number and then "Inv" for "invoice" or "Credit" for a credit note. Lastly I include the invoice date in 2-digit month, 2-digit day and 4-digit year format.
Merging several PDF files is equally easy, just click Merge instead of Split, click browse and select your first PDF file or you can select multiple files at once, once they have uploaded and they are in the order you want (you can change the order after the upload), you just click merge and after a few seconds a single PDF file is downloaded which now consists of however many pages the originals were.
