FYI: Following is a copy of a posting to the iDevices group about the Preview app. How to Use the Apple Preview App on an iPhone: Rita’s iDevice advice for December 1, 2025 The Apple Preview app allows you to access data from your iPhone Files app, use the device's camera to scan images and documents, and save them as PDFs. Users can then work with those PDFs and images; editing, marking up, annotating, and even creating and exporting them. Note: This should be quite accessible, when running VoiceOver. Note: If you are using VoiceOver: when the instructions say "Tap on an item", perform a one finger double tap gesture. Tap the Preview app to open it. The Preview app has three tabs: Recents, Shared, and Browse. The Recents tab shows PDFs that you have opened recently. The Shared tab shows all files and photos from the Files app that you have shared with others. The Browse tab lets you look through all of your Favorites, Locations, and Tags on your iPhone, iCloud Drive, and other third-party locations such as Dropbox. When you first open the Preview app, you can tap "New Document", or Scan Documents. When you tap "New Document", you can tap "New Empty Image" or "import a New, From the Clipboard, image. If you tap "Scan Documents" you can create a scan of any physical document using your iPhone camera. Position the document in view, and the scan will be automatically taken. Tap the blue check mark to save the scan. You can open the document that you have selected, scanned, or created; and use the toolbar to markup, add a signature or text, crop, get information about the document, export, or search by tapping an icon. You can also tap the "caret image” by the document name at the top. Preview makes working with PDFs and images easier than ever, with built-in tools to create, edit, annotate, markup, and export. Access & Scan PDFs Easily find and access all the PDFs and images you have saved in the Files app right from Preview. Or use your camera to quickly scan multiple pages of a document and save it as a PDF. Edit PDFs Markup your PDFs with Apple Pencil on iPad, resize them, or rotate them. You can also use AutoFill to quickly fill out PDF forms with your contact information and details in an instant. Work with Images Create a new image with Apple Pencil on iPad or from images in your clipboard. You can also crop, flip, rotate, and resize images. Export with Ease Export images and PDFs as different file types like HEIC, JPEG, JPEG-2000, PDFs, PNGs, or TIFF. And adjust your exports with different options for resolution and size. I just updated to 26.2 on my 13 mini. I’ve noticed a couple of new apps on my home screen. One is “games” which I deleted. The other one is “preview”. Wondering what that is. Thanks. God bless!
