If you want to know the detailed battery status including the case, you have to do the following: 1. Wear your Airpods and make sure they are connected, you can just wear one of them if you like. 2. Go to Settings on your iPhone, then look for your Airpods name, it’s typically just under “Family” and before “Wi-Fi” 3. Double tap on it and you’ll get battery details.
If you want to just know the charge of the actual Airpods you can put the battery widget on the Today screen (swipe left with 3 fingers from your home screen) and it will display it there. You can also ask Siri “What is the battery level of my Airpods”.
