I wouldn't abandon Safari lightly. Check your Safari settings by going to
settings, apps, safari. I suspect that the compact tabs view may have
become the new default in iOS 26. In addition to that view which maximizes
room on the screen for content, you can choose whether you want the tabs
bar to be on the bottom or top. The compact view is useable but you need to
find the "more" button at the bottom to get access to the tab bar and other
things. Many pages take up the whole screen and you'll have to feel near
the bottom right or the top to eventually get the tab bar. Once that is
found, flick left along the bar until you come to the address and search
field.
The only way to get at information really quickly is through Siri or
another AI assistant. As blind users, we simply can't operate our iPhones
with the speed of someone who can just see everything and tap on precisely
what they want. Overt time, you can build a kind of muscle memory about
where elements of apps are positioned on the screen. That way, you touch
nearer to what you want and have less flicks to get there.
Spending time exploring the screen layouts of apps can really pay off when
you're in more of a hurry. Another change which I think is likely throwing
people off is that once you go into a search tab in apps which have those,
a screen with suggestions and results appears. To get back to the app's
multiple tabs, you need to feel near the bottom and find a button named for
the tab you'll be placed back into when you double tap it.
