I wouldn't expect Apple to ask an employee to buy an iPhone out of their own
pocket. I do think support would be better if the support staff had iPhones. My
employer provides me an iPhone, and my employer isn't nearly as wealthy as
Apple. It doesn't give me an iPhone, it let's me use one of their iPhones. On a
slightly related point, I doubt Apple makes their testers use their own iPhones.

Apple can choose not to provide iPhones to their support staff. I know Apple
has people much smarter than me who work full time on questions like this. I
don't pretend to think I'm smarter than Apple's business management staff. It's
probably moot anyway though since call centers probably aren't staffed by Apple
employees but are contracted out to 3rd party companies.

I don’t think it is short sighted, unless Apples gives all their employees a
free iPhone, they can’t expect any phone operator to have one especially as I
said, if we are talking call centre employees in the Philippines or similar
countries. Often these employees are hired through agencies and are only there
for 6 months or a year until they are reassigned elsewhere so the companies can
avoid seniority and paying benefits. Believe me, I know a little about it as I
am married to a Filipina and one of her sisters works as a call centre agent.
In US Dollars she makes about $120 a months and an iPhone in the Philippines
isn’t any cheaper than it is here so she would have to spend the better part of
a year’s pay to buy one. And no, she also doesn’t have a high-end Samsung,
Google or Motorola phone, there are tons of Android phones sold over there
which cost between $50 and $100 and often even those are hard for people to
afford.

There is a business concept called "eating your own dogfood" which means using
your company's products. I wouldn't criticize and individual employee for their
personal decisions, but I do think this is short sighted on Apple.

I really don’t know why so many people get hung up on the fact this person who
currently works for Apple uses an Android phone.

There is a good chance this Apple rep could be in a call centre in the
Philippines where she is paid a wage which does not allow her to buy an iPhone
and while I am sure Apple employees may get some sort of discount, I doubt
Apple gives them a free phone or they can buy one for half price or less. I
also doubt that Apple forces people to use an iPhone for their own personal use.

Lyne,

I can’t help but laugh at this one, but yes, I am serious the Apple rep told me
she uses an Android.

I changed the volume in the setting app under Sounds and Haptics.

I don’t add sounds in the Rotor just so I don’t accidentally raise or lower the
volume.

But, it is happening on its own!

Kindly,

Janet.

Sirious! The rep use an Android and works for Apple!

How did you try to changed your volume? Did you try with rotor?

The rep told me the reason why my volume goes high and then goes low, is what
Apple considers to be expected behavior, and for those who are having this same
volume issue, instead of having the volume in settings set to 100 percent, turn
it down to maybe 98 or 95, to see if that will help, but if not, use the up or
down volume buttons to raise or lower the volume sound.

So I tried to turn the volume down to 98 or 95 percent, but on my phone it goes
from 100 percent to 90 percent.

So there doesn’t seem like there is going to be any fix for this one.

I also asked the rep about what the Silent Mode is in the sound and haptics
settings for to show in the status bar just thinking I was accidentally swiping
across the screen that maybe that was raising or lowering the volume.

The rep said if the setting to show in the status bar is turned on it will show
in the status bar on my screen, but that doesn’t show in my status bar on my
screen, rather I have that setting turned on or off.

So, I turned it off, but I noticed when I turned off the Silent Mode not to
show in the status bar, that automatically turned off my phone ringer, as well
as turned off any alerts, so I turned back on the show in status bar, and had
to turn back on my phone ringer.

I’m sorry but, I just don’t see any logic in all this, matter of fact, the
Apple rep said the same thing, but she is using an Android Phone!

Although, when I first talked to her she told me that Apple knows about this
and many people are having the same issue, and that Apple has been and still is
working on this, but then, she read more about what Apple had to say about the
volume, and that is when she told me Apple is saying that is expected behavior.

What a kick in the pants this one is!
