The dynamic island is where you find what is currently playing so you can double tap there control it. Interestingly if you create a focal shortcut then the Dynamic Island is where you will start seeing sometimes a message microphone in use: the vocal shortcut can only be used when that message is displayed in the Dynamic Island But that message disappears perhaps an hour after you created your vocal shortcuts and will only very randomly appear again, which means that your vocal shortcut will no longer work! So the Dynamic Island is supposed to be very useful for all kinds of things but illustrates that there is a bug with vocal shortcuts which I would urge people to join in reporting to Apple!
