If you know what the letter Z as in zebra looks like in the alphabet, that is 
the gesture that you want to use otherwise, just do a small quick left to 
right, then without lifting, go back to the left and finish it off with again 
without lifting going back to the right.

So without lifting after starting the gesture, start from left to right, Then 
go back to the left and finish it off with Going back to the right once again 
and the movements do not need to be all that large at all, maybe a quarter to a 
third of an inch each if even that.

If you find that you still have difficulties, I would recommend going to the 
VoiceOver tutorial and simply practicing because it is a handy gesture to have 
and to use definitely.
