I absolutely agree about the problem of just telling people to Google something
due to my own experience. I can get over 90 per cent of what I want that way
and have been doing it for years; but I have found that; sometimes I just
don’t get the wording quite right and it can take several attempts to find what
I’m looking for.

your public library to see if the reference librarian can find current books or
connect with other local resources or classes they may have.
Ideally these would include an intro to adaptive technology should the need to
ask for that come up, as it often does in the senior, or not so senior
population.
One thing I found is that sometimes even if these resources exist, it can be
difficult for to some to physically get to these programs.
Everyone needs to remember it does no good to tell someone just to Google it if
they don’t know how.
In that job I often found myself teaching a little Computer 101 to people who
had trouble distinguishing a title bar from an address bar, and who barely knew
how to make a phone call with their device.

Hi Mitch,
Right, Voice Memos nor any other app other than some paid third party apps can
record phone calls.
But, if he can wait until iOS 18 is released, which is probably next Tuesday,
September 10, he will be able to record them from within the phone app and then
have a transcript saved in the notes app.

I don’t know if any of the beta testers have tried this yet assuming it is
available in the beta already.
I don’t put betas on my iPhone, or I would have tested it by now.

Thanks,

Here is something specific to that app, but remember, it won’t record phone
calls. Did you see the message I sent about iOS 18 and recording calls from
within the phone app?

Here is a link to how to use the Voice Memos app.
