I have not had this issue at all when listening to music, books, or podcasts with Overcast. I wonder if it has anything to do with the proximity sensor? Like on phone calls, if the phone is near your head or if you cover the upper part of the phone with your hand, the source comes out the little earpiece speaker at the top of the phone. Perhaps something is triggering that? That is a pure shot in the dark.
