Here in Canada you cannot buy a book directly for cash. I just checked as there was an Audible update just yesterday and all I get from the app is the option to buy it with a credit but since I currently don't have any credits, it does give me the option to "Buy extra credits". If I select this, I can buy either 1 credit for $14.99 + taxes or I can buy 3 extra credits for $41.99 + taxes. Of course this is Canadian Dollars. On that same screen I am also told that I have the "Audible Premium Plus" membership and that it renews on November 24, it then says I have 0 credits and that my next credits arrive on November 24 as I am opting to buy 24 credits all at once once a year which gives me the lowest per credit price. Once again, the price buying from the app is definitely higher except for the 1 credit option which is $14.95 on Audible.ca so just 4 cents difference. I actually just noticed the the old "Buy 3 extra credits" now just says "Buy extra credits" as well and that to my delight I can now buy either 3 extra credits for $37.99 or $12.66 per credit ($4 cheaper than through the app) or I can even buy 5 extra credits for $55.99 which comes to $11.20 per credit. Below these options it goes on to say "Always running out of credits" and this is followed by a link for "Find a plan" that fits you better. Interestingly enough when I click this, I am presented with my current plan of 24 credits annually for $287.95 a year and then I can choose between two radio buttons, "Monthly" or "Annual". Monthly I can choose between 1 credit for $14.95 or 2 credits for $25.95 and annualy I can choose only the 12 credit a year plan which in Canada is $162.95. I assume I can't choose the 24 annual credits because that is what I already have. In any case, I am surprised that at $287.95 so basically $288 for 24 credits each credit costs me $12 whereas I can buy 5 extra credits any time for $11.20/each which is even less. I also subscribe to the daily deal email and this comes here in the Pacific Time zone around 2 AM each day and whichever title is on sale usually costs anywhere from $2.99 to $5.99 with unabridged novels from the more popular authors usually being $4.99 or $5.99 or I think maybe even $6.99 sometimes. Anyways, still a very good deal and I usually find at least 1 or 2 books a month and sometimes 4 or 5.
