Nothing was mentioned about money/currency.
I am Canadian and while in some ways we don't have the same laws as the US with
respect to accessibility and there is different legislation depending on which
province you are in, I am at least happy that government both on the Federal
and Provincial level seem to feel quite strongly about making sure their
websites are accessible and since the new polymer bills were introduced which
now is quite a few years ago, we have also accessible money as all bills are
marked with various combinations of a 6-dot braille symbol.
$5 bills have a single 6-dot symbol
$10 bills have 2
$20 bills have 3
$50 bills have 4
$100 bills have 2, but they are spaced far apart, e.g. think of the 4 on the
$50 bill which are side by side, but the two middle ones are not there so you
only have one at the very left and one more towards the middle of the bill.
If a bill gets to be super old and has been folded and crumpled up a lot they
also can become difficult to feel, but it really does take quite a lot, you can
even put these bills through the washer if you forget one in a pocket and they
are no worse for wear. It's almost impossible to tear one and all in all I
think it's a pretty good system.

Subject: Re: U.S. Senate Committee Addresses Accessible Government Technology

Thank you for sharing. I'm not from the US, I'm from New Zealand, and our
government doesn't have anything like this. We have accessibility guidelines,
but no legislation. Does this hearing mean that your money will finally become
accessible, or does that fall outside the realm of technology?
